The Chemistry Rate ConstantA number of theories are put forward about the relationship between changes in the chemical state and chemical rate constant. While there are many differences between the various theories, the major factor is the fact that all agree that there is a chemical rate constant that is constant regardless of what the chemical is doing. This constant rate constant is referred to as the gas phase rate constant.The gas-phase rate constant was first used in 1924 by Rutherford to determine the chemical rate constant for water vapor. This constant rate constant is measured in parts per second and is measured as the ratio of the molecular velocity to the molecular rotation frequency.When it comes to atomic physics the constant rate constant is known as c p. The cap is defined as the change in the enthalpy of state per second. It is measured as the effect on a molecule of changing its enthalpy.The cap varies as the value of the gas phase rate constant changes. This means that if the cop was ever to change the actual rate constant would change too. However, the atom theory states that the c p does not change with time.Atomic theory states that the rate constant is also determined by the molecular density. In other words, the density can be described as the product of the atom size and the molecular weight.This gives a relationship between the frequency and the c p. The frequency is the rate at which the molecular rotation occurs per second and the cup is the frequency at which the molecular rotation occurs per second.The c p can be quantified to determine the actual concentration. The strength of the relationship between the c p and the frequency is that the frequency will depend on the amount of oxygen present and that the frequency will also be related to the size of the molecule.While this equation is quite complex and can be written off as 'quintic' it is not completely unworkable. It has been calculated using modern molecular physics and mathema tical calculations. The question is therefore whether or not we will ever really have a physical example of this relationship.

How to Make it as a Touring Musician Sleepmakeswaves Tells All Maile Proctor If youre an aspiring guitarist, youre going to want to get to know the instrumental post-rock quartet  sleepmakeswaves. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, the band kicks off their United States tour this month, behind the release of their new album  Love of Cartography. We had a chance to catch up with Alex Wilson from sleepmakeswaves (bass, keys, electronics), to  chat about the new album, and living the dream of being a touring musician. TL: First of all, congrats on the new album and the tour, and thank you so much for chatting with us! AW: Thanks for having me. Very excited about our upcoming tour of the United States with The Contortionist, Monuments and Entheos. Only a few days out now. TL: Following the success of your previous album, what were you looking to do differently with Love Of Cartography? AW: We wanted to shake things up for ourselves without vastly changing what we were about. One part of that was the process. We tried to bring our stage show into the studio as much as possible by tracking together in a room. Our producer, Nick DiDia, pushed us in that direction and we would be reluctant to make a record differently now. The other shake-up was the emotional vibe. There was less emphasis on the darker, brooding side of our sound and more push to being euphoric and uplifting. A natural outgrowth of where we were as musicians and people when writing Cartography. TL: You guys are living the dream of many aspiring musicians; what goes into being a touring musician, the dedication involved, practice, sticking with it when you may not feel inspired? AW: It’s not so much a thing one does, it’s more like a way of life. There’s practice, alone and with bandmates. There’s admin ­ ­ ­â€" emails, making sure gear works, money stuff. There’s being away from work, home, loved ones  and finding ways to keep everyday life humming along OK while that happens. Most of all, it’s about a mindset I try to cultivate: balancing the fortune of living the dream with the discipline and dedication to not waste the opportunity. Being grateful for music and travelling the world, and gracious in the face of the tougher stuff: getting fired, getting dumped, being broke, and missing home. TL: Speaking of touring, how do you continue to write new music and practice while on tour? What do you love about being on the road and performing live? AW: I have to write music on the road or I lose my mind. It’s a way to unwind. On tour, I have my laptop, USB interface, headphones, Ableton Live, amp sims, EZ Drummer and no shortage of guitars. That’s enough to keep me cranking out the riffs. Big chunks of Emergent, Great Northern and A Little Spark were written this way. For me, a good night on the road is when sleepmakeswaves takes the stage and is firing on all cylinders. There’s a vibe between us and the crowd. Then we get on the bus and talk and drink until 4 a.m. when me,  and our drummer Tim, start making sandwiches. I’ve made some very deep relationships touring, have seen amazing parts of the world and shared moments with excellent people all around the world. TL: How does being an instrumental rock band shift your focus, the way you play and practice , and how you write your music? AW: I always wrote music sleepmakeswaves-style, I just happened to find the band that would fit the sound in my head when we got together 10 years ago. The instrumental approach fits my muse well because I’m at my best when I’m exploring pure sound and finding new ways to approach the geometries of rhythm and pitch. I have a huge place in my heart for excellent singers and lyrics but I think it’s part of  sleepmakeswaves musical path to focus predominantly on the power of instruments and pure sound. TL: How does music allow you to express yourself? Do you find it harder to create music when you are dealing with personal hardships or is it a great outlet for emotions? The whole point of music, to me, is to convey emotion. Sometimes the relationship is one of pursuit. I feel an emotion (joy, despair or something we don’t have a name for) and try to nail it down in a song. Sometimes it’s discovery, writing just for the love of music and chancing upon a feeling or vibe that is unintentional but running with it. Johnny Marr, one of my favourite musicians, called songwriting daydreaming in sound. Emotionally, I love composition because it’s satisfying to create. Live, the volume, audience, and physical intensity of what we do takes me out of everyday thought patterns in a way little else can. Writer’s block for me has sometimes corresponded with hard times, sometimes with really great stretches in life. Theres a dark and intense side to my personality that I think would be far harder to manage had I not created such a large space for music in my life. TL: Can you talk a little about your creative process? I know you guys have said originality is a priority, how do you use your musical influences and still maintain your own originality? AW: That’s really hard to answer, a great deal of the process is intuitive. I view songs as puzzles that need to balance fresh musical ideas with a kind of emotional narrative that will give them shape and impact. So we tend to cycle through ideas and arrangements until things feel exciting for us while satisfying obsessions we have about balance, melody and atmosphere. For me, originality is good in moderation. I like things to be fresh, but being different just for the sake of it won’t impress me on its own. There’s got to be craft and emotion to give weight to a new idea. Some bands are Radiohead and change all the time and remain brilliant. Other bands are Converge and make the same kind of record each time and remain brilliant. TL:  Many of  our readers are beginner musicians, what advice do you have for someone who is just getting started learning an instrument, or who feels discouraged? AW: Push through the awkward beginnings when your fingers hurt and you don’t want to practice. Because eventually you’ll be good enough to play your favourite songs. And that’s one of the best things ever. TL: We’d love to share your video for Great Northern what would you like our readers to know about the video, can you give us a little background? AW: It’s made by a friend of ours, Bradley Coomber, who works in the film industry. We told him we wanted a video clip about a kid who travels to space. Because upward motion is heaps inspirational and space rules hard. The results speak for themselves. Learn How to Change Guitar Strings Improve Guitar Sound Tune Suzy S. Learning how to change your guitar strings may seem daunting, but new strings can make a huge difference in the sound and intonation of your guitar. Let guitar teacher Noaa R. walk you through the process step by step Changing your guitar strings is an essential maintenance skill. In addition to sounding bad, old strings are difficult to play and prone to breakage. Strings should be changed at least on a monthly basis, and more often if you can afford it. Changing them is very easy, fortunately. Here’s how: Materials: -New Strings -Wire Cutter -Needlenose Pliers -Tuner -String Winder (optional) It’s best to change the strings one at a time so that the tension exerted on the neck doesn’t fluctuate too much. Heres the step-by-step process for how to change guitar strings: 1) Remove Dead String Loosen the string using the tuning machine. If you have a string winder, this is much faster. Pull the end out of the tuning post and clip the bent portion. This leaves the string tip straight so that it can be easily pulled out through the bridge by the ball end. Wrap and discard. Needlenose pliers can be useful here for extraction, especially if one of your strings has broken and a curly fragment is lodged in the post of the tuning peg. 2) Insert New String Unwrap the fresh string and insert the straight end through the appropriate hole in the bridge. With a Stratocaster-style bridge, this insertion point is accessed under the panel on the back of the guitar. On other guitars with front-mounted tailpieces, such as Les Pauls, the insertion points are found at the back of the tailpiece just behind the bridge. Pull the string all the way through until the ball end catches securely. In most acoustic guitars, the strings are held in place by small pegs called bridge pins. You can remove them using a coin or a pick for leverage, or with special tools found in almost any music store. Feed the ball end about halfway down the peghole and insert the pin, lightly pulling up on the string until you feel it wedge snugly. The goal is to trap the ball end between the narrow tip of the peg and the wall of the cavity. If pulling on the string pops the peg out of place, start over. It takes a little practice to get the feel for this, but you’ll pick it up quickly. 3) Secure String And Tighten To Pitch Pull the string all the way through the appropriate string post until it is taut, then pull it back out about one or two fret lengths to create some slack. Then kink it around the string post to set the length and tighten, counterclockwise, until your tuner indicates the desired pitch. A string winder speeds this process, but be careful not to overtighten as the string may snap. As the string wraps around the post, guide the protruding string end so that the coils sit nicely on top of and around it, keeping it secure. Clip the excess length from the post and discard. 4) Stretch String The string, under tension for the first time, will naturally drop in pitch. To condition it, fret the string with one hand at the 12th fret. With the free hand, place a thumb against the guitar for leverage and use your fingers to gently pull the string up and down about an inch from the body for 15-20 seconds. The pitch will drop significantly; tune it back up to the correct note and repeat. Be careful not to pull too vigorously, especially with the smaller strings, as you run the risk of snapping them. With each stretch, the amount of pitch correction required will decrease. When a stretch results in little to no change in the string’s pitch, you’re done. Move on to the next string and repeat the process. 5)  Repeat Steps 1-4 With Remaining Strings 6) Fine Tune And Jam Once all the strings have been changed and excess material has been discarded, give each string one more quick stretch and retune. You’re done! Enjoy the newly-rejuvenated sound of your instrument and the slick, smooth mobility of fresh strings! Now go practice!! Here are some useful English vocabulary football words and  phrases that you might find useful. Football is truly  (really) an international language. When it comes to  (when it arrives) the World  Cup even those individuals who normally do not watch games will be glued to  (watching  enthusiastically) their TV screens. The tournament  (competition) is well under way  (has begun) and  the excitement is building.  Thirty two teams qualified for the final stages  (the last part of the competition) after more than two  years of qualifying matches in various regions  (zones) all over the world. These teams came together  and the competition kicked off  (started) on the 15th June 2018. The qualifiers were divided in to eight  groups of four teams (4 teams in each group A- H). The teams were seeded  (separated/divided) so  that all the best teams could not be drawn  (placed) together in the same group. There were four  seedings 1-4. This draw took place in December 2017so everyone has known for several months which  teams they would play. Every team has now played the other three tea ms in its group. So each team  has three matches  (games) and the top two teams in each group qualify for the next stage (part/round) of the competition.
